Arabic Language

Arabic is the most widely spoken Semitic language, and one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. It is the first official language of the Arab world consisting of 22 countries of West Asia and North Africa with over 450 million native speakers. It is also one of the six official languages of the UNO. It is the only language in currency for the last one and half millennium. Arabic language has economic importance whereas it is crucial language for international business, trade, and diplomacy, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa. The celebration of World Arabic Day on 18th December by UNO is the manifestation of the worldwide recognition of this language. Arabic has a rich cultural heritage with significant contribution to literature, poetry, art and architecture. Moreover, it is also religious language for more than one billion Muslims of various languages and origins in countries across the globe.

In a nutshell, Arabic is a dynamic international language of the world with immense business, cultural, religious and political significance, making it an important language to learn and understand.

PG DEPARTMENT OF ARABIC

PG Department of Arabic in Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic & Persian University has been one of the subjects which were introduced at the undergraduate level at the its recognised colleges. However, Post-graduate level was introduced at university headquarter since beginnings. At present the Department offers below programmes at university headquarter:

•  M. A.  
• Ph.D.

The semester system has been introduced at M.A. level. The course has been designed in such a way that reflects a high balance between the classical and modern literature apart from the maximum required focus on the language aspect.

Under the Ph.D. program, the scholars have to qualify two papers of hundred marks each being taught in the Department w.e.f. 2023-2024, entitled: Methodology of Research, as well as subject specific course work. Thus, Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic & Persian University has become an important centre of research in the country.

The Department of Arabic in Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic & Persian University is regarded as the main centre for teaching translation which is an extremely important skill & need of the today's world. Translation can open doors to employment in various industries and sometimes even top Defence departments & Investigation agencies finds itself in desperate need of translators and interpreters for their secret documents.
