ALLAMA JAMEEL MAZHARI CENTRAL LIBRARY

The Allama Jameel Mazhari Central Library, an invaluable part of the Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University, Patna, was founded in 2010. This pivotal institution serves as a cornerstone for scholarly research, academic pursuits, and cultural enrichment within the university.

Inaugurated by the honorable Union Minister of Minorities and Company Affairs Salman Khurshid on 25th July 2010 during the tenure of Prof. Qamar Ahsan as the university’s VC. The library stands as a testament to the university's commitment to academic excellence and the promotion of Arabic and Persian studies. The library is named in the honour of Allama Jameel Mazhari, a distinguished scholar renowned for his contributions to Urdu literature and Poetry.

The library is well-equipped with the latest SOUL (Software for University Libraries) software, which facilitates efficient management and seamless access to INFLIBNET ’s (Information and Library Network) extensive collection of resources. Additionally, the library has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with INFLIBNET, enhancing its capabilities to provide digital resources and research support to its users.

The library is enriched with extensive collection of books, journals, and digital resources, catering to a wide range of academic disciplines. It provides an ideal environment for students, faculty, and researchers to engage in intellectual exploration and discovery.

Managed by a dedicated staff, the Allama Jameel Mazhari Central Library continues to play a crucial role in supporting the academic and research endeavors of the university community, fostering a culture of knowledge and learning.

GENERAL LIBRARY RULES

  1. Entry by University Identity card only
  2. In absence of Identity card, a permission letter from the Head of Department is required which will be valid for a day only
  3. The Readers shall observe absolute silence in the library.
  4. The use of cell phones inside the library is strictly prohibited.
  5. Laptops are allowed only inside the reading room of the library.
  6. Personal belongings are to be kept at property counter
  7. Books lost, destroyed, damaged or disfigured shall have to be paid twice the cost of book or replaced by the student.
  8. Reference Book are not to be issued.
  9. If one books of a set is damaged or lost, the whole set will have to be replaced.
  10. Before taking the book the student must satisfy himself about the condition of the Book.
  11. The Librarian can recall any book, if necessary, even before expiry of the due date.
  12. A fine of one Rupee per day for each volume lent shall be charged if books are not returned within allotted time.
  13. If the books are not returned within one month of the specified time, the Library Card shall be seized for one month.
  14. Each student will be responsible for books drawn on his CARD and for all fines accruing thereon.
  15. In case of loss of Card, a fee of Rs. 100 will be charged for issuing a duplicate card.
  16. Members shall not engage in conversation in any part of the library which may cause disturbance to other readers.
  17. Members shall not smoke, chew pan or spit in any part of the library.
  18. Members shall not scribble, damage or mark on any library materials.
  19. Members shall not shelve books and periodicals as that may disturb the prescribed order.
  20. The members caught tearing pages/ stealing of books will be suspended forthwith from using the library facilities and the University may initiate further disciplinary action against them.
  21. Members leaving the library should show the material borrowed by them / taken out of the library to the security staff at the gate. They should take back their belongings kept at the property counter while leaving library.
  22. The circulation section will remain open from 10.00 a.m. on all working days. Students will be debarred from borrowing books from the Library and using the reading room and shall not be allowed to remain in the Library if found violating any of the regulations of the Library or disturbing peace of misbehaving in any way.
  23. The librarian reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member found misusing the library materials, misbehaving, creating nuisance, abusing the library staff or behaving in an indecent manner.
